Media Discs

The following is a list of media discs currently available for check out from the Library. The discs contain still images, moving images for use in animation and interactive media projects, or short sound clips. All still and moving images are royal-free items or are licensed for use in classroom projects. All of the discs which contain still images, except the texture discs, include each image in various resolutions from low to high. As noted below, most of the images on the still image discs can be viewed as thumbnails by clicking on the appropriate file link. These are thumbnails only. Full-size images are available only on the image discs.

Due to demand, media discs are available for 1-hour check out only. Images used from these discs should be copied to another storage medium (student folder, removable disc, etc.) and the disc returned to the library as soon as possible. To check out a media disc, write down its call number (located in front of the title below) and present this with a valid AiDallas ID card to the Circulation Desk.

Still Images

Digitalvision and Digital Graphics still images are collections of photographs divided into the categories listed below.

Digitalvision

Where there are two discs indicated, Disc 2 consists of the highest resolution images. All images are saved in JPEG format. When locating Digitalvision discs by means of the thumbnail browser, note that the number of the thumbnail file corresponds to the number portion of the call number below.

Dynamic Graphics

For Discs 300-305, Disc 1 is in RGB format and Disc 2 is in CMYK, saved in JPEG format in either low or high resolution. Starting with Disc 306, all discs are in RGB format and are saved in JPEG format in either low, medium, or high resolution.

Other Collections

The Megarom collection contains nearly 3,000 art history images of painting, sculpture, architecture, crafts, and photographic art. About one-third of these are works of art cited in the principal general art history texts. The Visual reference for comic artists collection contains photographs of models and objects for use in drawing comics.
