About the Library
The library of The Art Institute of Dallas was founded in 1988 to support the information and imaging needs of The Art Institute community. In 1996, the Library was officially named for its founder and first librarian, Mildred M. Kelley. To support The Art Institute's information and imaging needs, the Library maintains a collection of over 23,000 books, more than 4,000 periodical titles in print and full-text electronic versions, 2,000 videos in VHS or DVD, 12,500 photographic slides, and thousands of media items contained on more than 500 CD-ROMs. It also houses tutorials in CD-ROM or DVD format on the software programs taught at the Institute. It provides reference services and instruction in the use of library services and facilities, electronic database searching, and research techniques. Full use of the facilities and services of the Library are open to faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students of The Art Institute of Dallas and Argosy University/Dallas. Students and faculty of El Centro, Brookhaven, Richland, and Eastfield Colleges may borrow circulating print materials as well. The use of library services and facilities in house is encouraged for alumni, commercial art professionals, and others interested in the fields taught by The Art Institute.
